History

Kathy Spencer founded the Company in 1981 to pursue her passion for live plants and their associated health benefits in indoor environments. Kathy's first store, A Treehouse, opened in Boise, Idaho where she pioneered the interiorscape industry in the Intermountain West. Kathy focused on building her customer base through exceptional client relationships. Eventually the business grew into three locations, to serve residential and large, commercial clients. 

Following a decade of successful growth, Kathy designed a unique retail center in Garden City, Idaho. In addition to plant sales, the Center hosted Kathy's other passion, horticulture-for-therapy programs. These programs taught bio-diversity concepts and hands-on science to over 3000 elementary-aged children per academic year. To further support horticulture-for-therapy oportunities in America, Kathy served on the Board of Directors for the American Horticultural Therapy Association, Northwest Chapter. 

In 2002, Kathy further expanded her business and rebranded the Company to Living Green Solutions. In addition to currently operating the Company, Kathy consults nationally as an industry expert. Her high-quality business reputation and practice is known throughout the American West.

Ongoing education for our team members, for our clients, and for our community is an integral part of our ongoing mission. We offer educational opportunities to enhance understanding of the interconnectedness of natural systems.

The name change to Living Green Solutions, Inc. in 2009 conveys the constantly expanding scope of the business. Living Green Solutions, Inc. creates beautiful, healthy environments that go beyond simply interior landscaping. We design environments that create value for each client by cleaning the air and increasing productivity while reducing HVAC costs, absenteeism, and stress.
